Low MOQ custom packaging for small brands

How small brands can ask for low MOQ custom printed boxes without losing sight of unit cost, samples and reorder planning.

Low MOQ custom packaging is useful for product launches, small brands, seasonal drops and market testing. It helps avoid buying too much packaging before the product, artwork or sales channel is proven.

Low MOQ does not always mean the lowest unit price. It means the first order is smaller and easier to test.

When low MOQ makes sense

Low MOQ custom boxes can be practical when:

  • You are launching a new product
  • Artwork may change after customer feedback
  • You are testing retail or wholesale samples
  • You have limited storage space
  • You need seasonal or event packaging

For small brands, custom mailer boxes and custom folding cartons are often easier starting points than complex rigid boxes.

Ask for two quantities

Instead of asking only “What is your MOQ?”, ask for two quote levels. For example:

  • 500 pieces for the first launch
  • 2,000 pieces for a reorder

This shows the difference between pilot cost and bulk cost. It also helps you decide whether the first run should be simple or more premium.

Keep the first version simple

For a first order, avoid too many special finishes. A clean structure, good logo placement and correct size usually matter more than adding foil, embossing, inside print and specialty paper all at once.

Once the product sells, you can upgrade the next order with a better finish or insert.

What to send for a useful quote

Send product size, box style, quantity, destination country and any artwork you already have. If artwork is not ready, a logo and reference box are enough for an early estimate.

Request a quote

Send the basic box details. Get a practical answer back.

Share the box style, size, quantity and destination. Artwork is helpful, but not required for the first estimate. If your project has recycled paper, FSC paper, plastic-free packaging or supplier code requirements, send them before sampling.
